What Richard Wyce Photography is all about.

Photography has been an important part of my creative life for many years.

I am particularly interested in the ordinary world around me: landscapes, gardens, architecture, changing seasons, light, colour and the small details that can easily go unnoticed. I don’t necessarily look for spectacular subjects. Often, what interests me is discovering something worth seeing in a familiar place.

For me, photography is fundamentally an exercise in looking and noticing. The camera provides a way of preserving a particular moment of perception, but the photograph begins before the shutter is pressed—with the decision to stop, look more carefully and ask what it is that has caught my attention.

Many of these photographs are made simply because something made me stop and look. They are not intended to present a definitive interpretation of a place. Rather, they are my way of sharing something that I found interesting, beautiful, curious or worth remembering.

I hope that some of the photographs will encourage you to look at the world around you a little differently.
